End of term update

As the summer draws ever closer we begin to look ahead to September and how we can best support the SfA community here in the UK. Plans for the new academic year will vary across the country as schools wrestle with the government’s guidance and the unpredictability caused by the Coronavirus. To help schools with a possible range of scenarios we have published clear guidance for SfA implementation. Many schools will have planned for their classes returning already but we hope that this additional support is of some use to you in planning for wider reopening.

In addition to guidance on strategies schools might consider using to support SfA when children return, we have also created a suite of catch up programmes ready for easy implementation. The four programmes focus on tutoring, Phonics, success in Year 6 and support for children in Year 7 and Year 8. We are confident that each of these programmes will help close the attainment gap that will inevitably have widened for many during the COVID-19 lockdown.

We are particularly excited about the tutoring programme, Tutoring with Alphie.  This online programme has been successful across SfA schools in the USA and an anglicised version has been piloted in a number of our UK schools with extremely positive results. You will already have received an invitation to join this initiative which is run jointly with Fischer Family Trust.

If you haven’t already contacted the office please do so at info@successforall.org.uk. We will be able to train staff from July onwards ready for the Autumn term.

Our home learning support sheets have been very well received and we are grateful for the feedback you have provided us with, this has helped us ensure the support is relevant and targeted to the areas of most need. We have also been delivering online training and support and have created a suite of thirteen CPD staff meetings which the team have begun delivering this term and which are available for all schools to book via the office. These sessions can be delivered remotely or in person.

We hope that the above information is useful to you in planning for the coming academic year.  I hope that you are able to enjoy a well-earned break over the summer.

As always, please keep in touch and let us know if we can be of any further support.
