It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dr Robert Slavin. Bob was a highly respected education researcher and a globally recognised figure in the field. He was the first ever Distinguished Professor at the Johns Hopkins School of Education in Baltimore, USA and the director of the Johns Hopkins Center for Research and Reform in Education. He was recognised with countless awards during his lifetime and wrote or co wrote no less than 24 books. He also published more than 300 peer-reviewed papers and his weekly personal blog was followed by thousands of educators worldwide. In 1987 Bob along with his wife and Johns Hopkins colleague, Dr Nancy Madden founded Success for All which grew rapidly in the USA before arriving in the UK ten years later. We were always delighted to welcome Bob and Nancy to the UK to share research and learning and to show them SfA UK in action. Bob remains an inspiration to all of us who worked with him and his impact on the world of education will continue for years to come.
Johns Hopkins University has published an article reflecting on Bob’s success over the years, to read this in full, please click the link below.
